Professor Eddie Summers' provides the keynote address for the 4th Annual Dutchess Outreach Brunch

On Sunday, September 26, Professor Eddie Summers from Marist College provided the keynote address for the 4th Annual Dutchess Outreach Brunch. Eddie's speech entitled "The Power of Service" touched upon Marist's contributions to the local and global community. He argued that service not only has the power to transform the lives of those receiving the service but it can change those who conducted the service as well. Eddie provided an example from recent experiences with students who have traveled to South Africa. In particular, he told the story of the late Robert Stone and the impact he continues to have on the local and global community. While Professor Summers will not return to South Africa during the spring 2010 semester, he will venture to Ghana with a group of students to partner with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to work on community and economic development projects in Tamale, Ghana.
