Pre-Departure experience

Hello from everyone in the History, Politics and Culture of South Africa course. Today’s bloggers are Joel and Allison. They will reflect on their pre-departure experience thus far. Hello all, my name is Joel. Most of us have arrived by now and we are patiently waiting for the last of the group to arrive at the airport. Check in and boarding passes were all handed out and everyone’s parents nervously sent off each one of us. The group shots were taken, however Megan’s mother send off was the best, giving a wave before she left the sight of the group.

Our flight to South Africa will be dreadfully long and we are anticipating interesting in-flight movies. We are in the process of discussing the hotels that we will be staying at and what each one of us has viewed on their websites. No one really knows what to expect, we all ponder what South Africa will be like as we continue to wait. The group has reflected on past travel abroad experiences in hopes of quelling some of the anticipation. Time to board---stay tuned for Allison’s blog later.
